For more than 40 years, music has been an incredible part of Robert’s life. Whether performing on stage, rehearsing with a band, or simply connecting with an audience, he’s always believed that great music is meant to be shared and enjoyed.

Robert’s musical journey began with formal studies in Humber College’s Jazz program, where he developed a strong foundation in theory, performance, and musicianship. Since then, he’s had the opportunity to perform across a wide variety of genres and stages.

Early in Robert’s career, his band earned a semi-finalist spot in Toronto’s Q107 Homegrown Contest, an experience that fuelled his passion for live performance. From there, he became a member of a busy Italian wedding band before touring Ontario with a Classic Rock cover band, including the opportunity to open for Canadian rock legend Rik Emmett.

Robert’s love of the blues led him to join Bentroots, where he had the privilege of writing and recording on three albums alongside outstanding musicians, including Nicholas Balkou and Michael Fonfara. Those experiences helped shape his approach to songwriting, collaboration, and live performance.

Today, Robert is proud to have been part of Southpawz since the band’s very beginning. Every performance is about creating an energetic, memorable experience where the audience feels just as much a part of the show as the band. If people leave with sore feet from dancing, a smile on their face, and a song stuck in their head, then we’ve done our job.
